THE ROBBERY
The mind is idle focused on the mundane;
Then in walks a stranger and the nerves tingle,
With a strange anticipation of uncertainty.
The heart pumps forth excited pulsation
As a deadly metal weapon is displayed.
Eyes pierce into eyes as desperate bravado
Stares down spontaneous fear, devolving composure.
Ears hear frenzied words as a distant monotone,
"Give me the money!"
The nose gasps for air as if the supply had run out.
Facial muscles try to hold the illusion of composure,
As hormones release streams of Adrenaline,
Compelling the brain network to form a plan of survival,
Quickly commanding muscles into involuntary motion,
Spasmodically pushing printed paper into a bag.
In one delirious moment all earthly memories flash!
Sound waves vibrate eardrums with the clamor
Of frantically fleeing footsteps, echoing into the distance.
After an instant which seems like an eternity,
A moment in which awareness of all sensation ceases,
A voice from deep inside a bedazzled psyche is heard,
"I AM STILL ALIVE!!!!"
