THE MUNDANE MYSTERIES OF LIFE

Spirits fall from a celestial high place
To the abruptness of physical life's ground.
Adulteration of the most exulted Grace;
Christ's haunting stature- a ridiculed clown!

All the tea in China stacked, pile upon pile,
Like data recorded- written inside a microchip.
What vast mysteries lie beneath a feminine smile?
Passion and rage incited by the movement of a lip!

We make important- the most ridiculous ditty-
Made into a pop hit- the excitement of a home run!
Beguiled by charming appearance delightful and witty-
The enchanting nothingness of an idle day of fun!

As men in three piece suits make-multi-million-miracles,
At marathon mercantile meeting's mercenary grindstone,
I hear a songwriter's spawning- passionately lyrical,
As I move among party throngs, but feel so much alone!

We strive for material success- bank-accountable,
Or for fun- thrilling pleasures sweat surge,
Or reach for power and prestige- authority indubitable,
While others struggle to gratify a creative urge.

Where is the purpose and explanation we are seeking?
Why this speckled colored merry-go-round goes up and down?
I feel this inner dread- manic panic is creeping!
Beneath this earthly facade, we could be CHRIST, in our own rights-
RIDICULED CLOWNS!
