THE SUITS OF THE TAROT

I Swords- The element of Air

Twisting mental energy, whirling, whizzing, wanton waste
Sheer might of purpose, deliberate action, forcing fate to bend,
Invoked force vehemently engraved in mental lace,
A cerebral cyclone franticly seeking its own selfish end.
The mind's power molds clouds into illusions of form & space.
As gaseous images vacillate between sin & grace!

II Wands- The element of Fire

From deep down in the soul's core springs forth passion's fire,
The savage flame of Id, emanates desire's blinding heat.
Natural energy radiates fervor flaring, louder & higher!
Pulsating in grove to the Universal Cymbal's beat,
Human potency flares forming Art, Passion & Desire,
Raging fiery stars, galaxies & nebulae- a Universe to aspire!

III Cups- The element of Water

Watery emotional torrents- swells forth joys & woes;
Moody vacillating images- Life's wet passions,
Tides sway from tantalizing highs to woeful lows! Huge waves carving- soul scarred lesions;
Blood's potent moisture, revives as it flows.
Rains fertile lushness impels things to grow!

IV Disks- The element of Earth

Gravity weighs us down to dirt and rock!
Materiality binds us to wheels & cash.
Desire ties us to material, skin's encasing lock.
We are earth bound bodies of bone flesh and ash.
Weighty matter mashes us into concrete blocks,
Souls & spirits locked by earthly theater's mundane clock.
