The people are in debt:
Junk mail floods our post offices with credit card scams,
As the consumer's illusion of affluence is actualized by deficit.
We struggle- paycheck to paycheck, on the brink of economic desolation.
As ravenous financial conglomerates feed on human material avarice.
Usury, exploitation, and chicanery, broadcasting hindsight's sales pitch,
"Buy now pay later"- a rationalization propelling people to bankruptcy.
Our nation is in debt:
Violence accented news coverage and terror alerts, keep us in fear,
As the country's illusion of security is fabricated by deficiency.
We struggle to maintain infrastructure, education, medical needs,
As millionaire tax loopholes, and violent pre-emptive wars drain our future,
Expediency, shortsightedness, and greed, inspiring us to "live for today,
Weighing down future generations, burdened by our duties and responsibilities.
Our environment is in debt: Massive mechanical gadgetry churns up the earth's raw ore and crude oil.
Spewing forth Bio-carbons and dioxin, making the atmosphere an altered prism,
Refracting our Sun's energy causing catastrophic climatic conditions,
As special interest divert our energy choices from renewable clean alternatives,
We continue to mortgage our planet intensifying our bondage to our earthly mother,
A debt to be paid by future generations, resulting in environmental devastation.
Our soul is in debt:
Exploitation, thievery, physical, and mental torment rebounding upon itself,
Violence begetting more and more violence, fueling racial and ethnic feuds,
Originating in the rivalries of ancient civilization culminating in today's cultural clashes,
Terrorism repaid by reprisal to be answered by more terrorism, ad infinitum!
Massive accumulations of sin and evil karma to be paid for by the Messiah,
Until awareness of our unity and shared soul brings out our divine love and compassion.
